Frequently Asked Questions:
What type of packages are available for skydiving?
We offer basically two different options for first time skydivers: Tandem or AFF.
The Tandem skydive allows you to jump while physically connected to an experienced instructor and is similar to a ride. It requires around 20 minutes of training and interaction. We offer multiple options in height and video options, and highly suggest getting video especially if it's your first time, because you'll never emulate an experience like this again!
AFF is a much more extensive program and is the beginning of learning how to skydive on your own. You have a 6 hour course and are actually skydiving with your own parachute on the first skydive while two instructors hold on to you and make sure everything goes A-ok.
How fast do you go during your skydive?
120+ MPH
What kind of video packages do you offer and what's the difference?
We are one of the few dropzones in the USA that offer a variety of video options for customers. Our most popular is known as "HandyCam" and "Outside Video" is another option.
HandyCam allows a unique perspective of the camera actually being on the instructors arm and allows for more close up views of all the incredible action. It is shot in full HD and is a modern approach on the Tandem Video catching everything from the exit to your landing. A full interview is still included with this option.
Outside video is the more traditionalvideo that you have probably seen on Youtube or a friends. It is still a great value, and offers the unique experience of flying with another jumper who will film your skydive.
More information on video packages is available in our video services section.
What type of clothes should I wear?
The ideal outfit for skydiving is loose fitting athletic wear. Try to avoid wearing Jewelry and valuables and be sure to bring tennis shoes or sneakers. You will be given the option if you want to wear a jump suit or not, but be sure to not wear anything that you would hate to get grass stains on.
How high up do you exit the plane from?
A Standard tandem skydive will exit the plane above 10,000 feet MSL or two miles above the beautiful beaches in the area.
Our new Premium tandem skydive will take you to 13,000 feet MSL and increase your freefall time by about 20 seconds.
For extreme thrill seekers we will offer EXTREME tandem skydives above 15,000 feet MSL, however, we do request that if you are interested in this option that you book and tell the booking agent or if booking online in advance so we can call for FAA approval.
What type of equiptment do you use?
The Jumping Place's current tandem equiptment all have Strong Dual Hawk Harnesses with Set 400s or 366s as the main parachute. Every rig has a Strong reserve that has been fully inspected and repacked within every 180 days in accordance with FAA regulation by a certified FAA rigger.
Are there any weight or height restrictions?
Seeing as we do use equipment to stop people from plummeting towards the planet the equiptment does have restrictions. Anyone over 220 pounds will have to pay a $2 per pound surcharge as it leads to more wear and tear on our equipment. Because of limitations on the equipment anyone over 220 pounds may possibly have to look into our AFF program as an option, but call and we will work something out. Height restrictions are simple, if you can fit into the equiptment you can go. Basically, 4'10" to 6'10" will generally be able to experience a tandem skydive.
Do you get the roller coaster "puke" sensation?
No. Well kind of. Upon exiting the plane your kinetic energy shifts from the horizontal plane to a vertical one, thus you don't get that stomach turning falling sensation. When opening the parachute you are rapidly decelerating, so you may experience a slight bit of discomfort, but this is uncommon.
Does weather play a factor in skydiving?
Weather is a huge factor, and before your skydive you should be checking our twitter, facebook, and web page updates. If you still have questions on the conditions for the day, be sure to call before you come out. Any weather related setbacks will allow you another time of your choosing to come back and try again. Call Cathy for any updates on the day of your skydive.
